Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area           http://www.ias.unt.edu/llela/main.htm

Tucked into the folds of the soft rolling hills of north central Texas, situated beneath the Lewisville Dam, the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA) occupies a unique ecological position in the landscape of North America. It is here where the northwestern-most extent of the bottomland forests stretch fingers into the southern end of the tallgrass prairie of the Midwest; where the Elm Fork of the Trinity River winds its way out of the sandy uplands of the dry Cross Timbers into the deep, rich soils of the Blackland prairies; where agricultural lands intergrade with ranching and a rapidly growing urban expanse.

Texas Parks and Wildlife http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/ Philosophy We seek to balance outdoor recreation with conservation as we achieve greater self-sufficiency. On one hand, we must manage and protect our natural and cultural resources. At the same time, we must generate increased revenue by adding value through more and better public services. We affirm that a culturally diverse well-trained staff will best achieve this balance. And we must never forget, not in the haste of business, nor in the pride of science, that the outdoors should above all be a source of joy! Providing outdoor experiences, whereby young minds form values, will be our greatest contribution to the future.

Building and Construction  Resources:

North Texas http://www.usgbcnorthtexas.org/resources.html

Green Built North Texas is a voluntary partnership of local home builders, industry supporters, and sponsors committed to creating awareness and interest in the construction of higher-performance, lower-impact residential homes in North Central Texas.  The program establishes elements of housing construction that HBA members have deemed essential in order to carry a “green built” label.  Homes certified into the program conform to high standards of site management and waste recycling, water efficiency, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, materials, and homeowner education.

AndersonSargent Custom Builder, L.P. is nationally recognized as a leader in building healthy, high performing, energy efficient residential construction.  http://www.andersonsargent.com/index.html

Construction  Reclamation

Construction and Demolition Recycling is a relatively new field full of exciting opportunities for builders, contractors, and developers.  C&D Recycling has been very successful - in diverting large volumes of C&D debris from local landfills, in demonstrating environmental stewardship, and in saving considerable cost normally associated with project disposal. The City’s Green Building plan extends the C&D Recycling program to include the engineering and architectural phase of construction, allowing builders to incorporate even more environmental and sustainable design features into their projects to help achieve a cleaner, healthier Plano.  The Green Builders Program is anticipated to evolve through four separate phases over the coming years.  To learn more about the Green Builders Program please contact Robert Smouse at (972) 769-4199 or roberts@plano.gov.
