Why Permaculture Certification?

Permaculture is a copyrighted word of the Permaculture Institute of Australia. Graduates of the certificate course are permitted to use the word Permaculture in their choice of livelihood.

Let me share with you some of the benefits of certification:

  • Differentiate yourself:  Becoming a Permaculturist positions you on the leading edge of cultural change that is shaping our worldview, values, and way of life. Social entrepreneurs are creating many of the new cultural solutions required for the time ahead.  Becoming certified as a Permaculture Designer enables you to join these innovators whose services, products, or livelihoods are deeply enriching not only for their own lives, but for society as well. Americans’ perception of the way reality works is shifting away from the institutions of modern life for this determination. A new ecological perspective for informing social value, ethics, and authenticity is evolving. This shift in awareness is driving changes at all levels of social, economic and environmental organization, as we transcend environmental regulation to real ecological sustainability.
  • Engage relevant continuing education: to hone your entrepreneurial skills for improving social value.  Keep current on the topics that are transforming the institutions of modern life. Learn more about appropriate technologies and innovations being utilized in sustainable development. Learn how to integrate economic and ecological priorities that will balance capacity and abundance.  Understand complex system characteristics and behaviors. Learn to leverage long- term systemic health, rather than creating piecemeal programs and reactionary responses to topical events or symptoms.  Learn to synthesize many bits of knowledge to form a ‘big picture’ perspective of whole systems and ecology.
  • Create more Prosperity: Permaculture is a toolkit for design that will help you create the habits of mind needed to redefine prosperity and act on creating it. You will explore and discover many new opportunities for integrating self-sufficiency with values based self-actualization while also improving environmental conditions.
  • Enhance livelihood satisfaction: many diverse markets are emerging in social, economic, and environmental initiatives to restore ecological health and create capacities for sustainable development. Being on the forefront of servicing the emerging development needs, and aiding in this social transformation can be fulfilling in ways beyond anything ever experienced through materialism alone.
  • Build ‘sustainability’ market resources and referrals: Expand your professional referral network and consistently develop sustainable business practices. Explore formal and informal economies. Recognize ideal relationships within systems, and between social, economic, & environmental systems. Learn to leverage through symbiotic relationships. Build strong communities of practice. Fulfill basic necessities through right livelihood.
